The goal was to make the different uses of the shoe feel totally seamless, like it was immensely simple to go from indoor to outdoor. We used a combination of techniques to make it happen. After a series of tests, including building it in simple 3D, we figured a way to solve the brain-melt that was this effect. We used rear-projection for our backgrounds and followed our talent walking in different directions on different surfaces. Combining some fancy camera moves and some post-work in AE, the transition came to life.
